10 millennia
to your daily scoop
Ten thousand years of nature's work, then a careful process of our own: ethically sourced, water extracted, concentrated 100 times and purified.
A rare, finite layer at the bottom of the catotelm
Peat bogs grow by roughly a millimetre a year. Moss and plants settle into cold, waterlogged bogs where there is too little oxygen for them to rot away completely. Over thousands of years, under growing pressure, they press down and transform into humus.
Under time and pressure, diamonds are formed. The same is true for peat humus. Millennium after millennium, as the bog slowly grows, the layers beneath are pressed down under ever-increasing weight. The deeper you go, the older and more fully decomposed the humus becomes. Only at the very bottom, resting on ancient bedrock, do you find the layer we call nature's black gold: Peathumus™.
That layer sits at the very bottom of ancient northern hemisphere peat bogs, where the material is fully decomposed and well preserved. It has been forming since the end of the last Ice Age, and there is only so much of it on the planet.
We ethically source our peat humus in small batches, following the harvesting principles below.

Taking only what we need
A resource this old deserves respect. These are the principles we harvest by.
Small, selective harvests
Large-scale peat harvesting for gardening products drains and strips whole bogs. We don't. We harvest small batches from small corner sections of a bog, take only the catotelm humus layer we need and return everything else, so the rest of the bog is left untouched. We never harvest a full bog.
The living bog stays alive
The living surface of the bog stays the same size, and the water that feeds it is left to keep doing what it has done for ten thousand years: grow.
We clean up and plant trees
As we work, we clear away undergrowth along our route, and on our way out we plant trees along the path we came in on.
Six steps from bog to jar
Harvest
We collect raw peat humus from the deepest, oldest layer of the bog, where it is fully decomposed and naturally rich.
Filtration
We filter out everything that does not belong, like sand, grit and plant fibre, keeping only the lower catotelm layer: pure humus, rich in naturally occurring substances and trace minerals.
Water extraction
The humus is steeped and strained through purified water to draw out its organic compounds: the humic substances, fulvic substances and trace minerals.
Concentrate
The extract is then concentrated until it is 100 times stronger than the raw humus it came from. That is why one gram is all you need.
Purify
The concentrated extract goes through a final purification and pasteurization step.
Dry, mill and seal
The purified concentrate is gently dried, milled into a fine powder and sealed in amber glass to protect its compounds and trace minerals from light.
100 parts of raw peat humus go into every 1 part of Peathumus™.
What stays. What goes.
We keep
- Humic substances
- Fulvic substances
- Naturally occurring trace minerals
We remove
- Sand and grit
- Undecomposed plant fibre
- Excess water
- Anything that is not pure peat humus

One ingredient.
Nothing added.
After all of that, what goes in the jar is simple: 100% concentrated peat humus. No carriers, no fillers, no flavours, no sweeteners.
Thirty grams. Thirty servings. Ten thousand years.
